User anonymity and personal information
Pevensey Bay Sailing Club is committed to protecting your and your family’s personal information. We want our website to be safe and enjoyable for everyone. This page aims to help you to understand what information we might collect about you and how we use it.
Log files are maintained and analysed of all requests for files on this website’s web servers. The log files do not capture personal information but do capture the user’s IP address, which is automatically recognised by our web servers.
Aggregated analysis of these log files is used to monitor website usage. These analyses may be made to available to Pevensey Bay Sailing Club (PBSC) web team to allow an understanding of, for example, overall popularity of the site and typical user paths through the site.
Except as stated already, PBSC will make no attempt to identify individual users. You should be aware, however, that access to web pages will generally create log entries in the systems of your ISP or network service provider. These entities may be in a position to identify the client computer equipment used to access a page. Such monitoring would be done by the provider of network services and is beyond the responsibility or control of PBSC.
PBSC will make no attempt to track or identify individual users, except where there is a reasonable suspicion that unauthorised access to systems or abuse is being attempted. In the case of all users, PBSC reserves the right to attempt to identify and track any individual who is:
i) Reasonably suspected of trying to gain unauthorised access to computer systems or resources operating as part of PBSC web services.
ii) using the PBSC web service to to cause distress or abuse to other users.
ii) To contact you about a submission you have made
As a condition of use of this site, all users must give permission for PBSC to use its access logs to attempt to track users who are reasonably suspected of gaining, or attempting to gain, unauthorised access.
PBSC will not use information to pass onto 3rd party mailing lists
PBSC will not use this data on this site for marketing purposes unless you have opted in to a feed.
We will keep your information confidential except where disclosure is required or permitted by law (for example to government bodies and law enforcement agencies).
Offensive or inappropriate content
If you post or send offensive, inappropriate or objectionable content anywhere on or to the PBSC websites or otherwise engage in any disruptive behaviour on any PBSC service, then PBSC may use your personal information to stop such behaviour.
Where there is reasonable belief that you are or may be in breach of any applicable laws (e.g. because content you have posted may be defamatory), PBSC may use your personal information to inform relevant third parties such as your employer, school email/internet provider or law enforcement agencies about the content and your behaviour.
