Contender and N12 Open report (8th/9th June)

Despite the glorious sunshine on Saturday we found ourselves facing a NE F6 all day with a horrible beach dump which would have challenged the most experienced of beach sailors. In the end the consensus was not to sail.  Not all was lost and we enjoyed a delicious curry on the Saturday night at the club served by our in house caterers. By Sunday morning the wind had dropped to a F5 and the dinghies were safely launched at half tide. Three races were held  back to back  and by 2.30 pm the beach party had their hands full plucking dinghies out of the surf (see pic). Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out over the weekend, bar duty, beach party, rescue/committee boats etc, despite the conditions we maintained our reputation for being able to run a high quality open meeting.
