Club statement 14/5/2020

Dear Members,

As I am sure that you are aware the Government has agreed that sailing
is one of the outdoor activities that is permitted to take place. This
is great news but it obviously means that it creates potential problems
for the Club because of the advice and legislation imposed by the

There are clearly safety concerns that we have to address with the main
ones being social distancing and the the fact that we should not be
seen to be creating a gathering of people from different households.
The social distancing is quite easy for all of us to adhere to but the
gathering of a large number of people at the club site could cause
issues and the police may intervene. The Executive Committee need to
consider these issues before we can encourage people to take to the
water and so it is for this reason we are recommending members not to
sail this weekend. There will be no safety cover or winches available.

The club remains closed this weekend. Our plan is to open for limited
free-sailing next weekend 23rd / 24th May.

To help us form a picture of your interest could you please answer the
two questions below and send by return email to:

1. Will you be coming to the club for boat maintenance?

2. When do you plan to sail?

Please remember that you must be paid up members to do either unless a
prior agreement has been made.

We will be in touch shortly with measures to ensure your safety and
safe sailing.

Thank you for your patience.

PBSC Executive Committee
